Banaue-Sagada Trip

Yay! Natuloy kaming pumunta sa Sagada.. Kasi nmn nalaman namin na hindi exempted sa exam kapag sa Vigan sumama kaya aun.. Ok ung trip, sulit ang P3100 na bayad (na utang ko pa kay Ian)...

We left U.P. at 10:00 friday nyt (aug25).. We arrived at the Inn (i forgot the name) the next day at 6:00... We ate a breakfast of eggs, rice, and daing na Bangus with coffee (cause it was so cold)... After that, we proceed to the Banaue Hotel because there is the way to Tam-an Village (the village with the old ifugao houses).. sad though that some are now using GI Sheets for their roof instead of the cogon roofing.. reminds me of Junichiro Tanizaki's In Praise of Shadows... he tried to point out that to build an authentic Japanese house, you cannot merge it to the Western ideas and technology because it won't be aesthetically pleasing to look at. Same with us, i think.. I really feel disappointed to see a congestion near the PAYYO (Banaue rice terraces).. Had it been a congestion of the real Ifugao houses is another thing -- sobrang ok un. But all we saw were houses with GI Roofing clustered beside the Payyo.. Sad. We tried to hide it behind our backs but to no avail..

Nwey, after going to the Tam-an village, we went to the minor and major viewpoint to the Payyo.. sobrang astig!!! ang galing tlga.. We took a lot of pictures pa nga. Can't get enough of how great it looks.. Makes you wonder how the Ifugaos were able to make it (with a 5-meter rise of the steps).. Breathtaking tlga..

Next was going to Solano where there is a pool (we didn't go swimming as it's so cold) and a constructed Ifugao Village. There is the evolution of Ifugao Houses and some examples of their crafts (weaving, carving wood etc)... The villagers also performed a cultural presentation. The end of the dance was for all to join (too bad i wasn't able to)... Ian did, though.. I took pictures na lang.

The day ended with me taking a bath (with hot shower thank God) and falling asleep with my hair still wet.. ung mga roommates ko pala mga di ko kilala... aun..

The next day, we woke up early because we had to endure a 4-hour drive to Sagada (in jeep).. We drove to Mt. Polis where we had a stop-over to its highest peak. Wow sobrang lamig tlga. Para kang nasa ref... Mahamog na dun (ung mga clouds tlgang makikita mong dinadaanan ka)... Took some pictures by the way (will post it later)...

In Sagada, we saw the hanging coffins (sa malayo lang)... pano kaya nila nalagay un dun?? Nasa taas kasi ng bundok na parang walang way papunta dun sa kinalalagyan ng mga coffins.. hehe.. Nagpunta kami sa famous Sagada cave (wherein they said Brad Pitt and other Hollywood Stars were able to explore).. Di ako pumasok sa cave kasi tinamad ako. hassle kasi kailangan mo pang lumusong sa tubig na shoulder-high tapos wala kang pagpapalitan sa labas.. sobrang lamig pa kaya aun.. Ian again did so aun paglabas nya basang-basa cya.. nagpalit cya ng damit sa malayo ( sa talahiban yata ewan ko hahaha)...

Going back to the Inn was so tiring. Ang tagal ba nmn ng byahe e. And sobrang mahamog na na hindi mo na makita ung bangin sa gilid ng daan.. at malabo na rin ung dinadaanan mo (though ok p nmn ung visibility)

Going back to UP, we left Banaue at 8pm nung Linggo.. We were able to arrived at 5:00am..
